Background
DRAKs (Death associated protein kinases) share significant homology to ZIP kinase; the latter is involved in the induction of apoptosis through interferon-gamma. To date, two DRAK isoforms have been identified: DRAK1 and DRAK2, respectively. Overexpression of DRAKs in NIH 3T3 cells leads to apoptosis; these transfection experiments suggest that C-terminal domain of DRAKs is important for induction of apoptosis.
